How do we know our ministries are healthy? How do we know our capacity to follow Him in humility is increasing?
The book of Ecclesiastes can be a bit confusing, with its persistent declaration that all is vanity. If life is really like that, why bother with it, then? There is very little that can frustrate a creative person than to say there is nothing new under the sun. And yet, to reach those conclusions is the evidence of a casual reading of the text.
Solomon is forcing us to see the bigger picture, giving us God’s perspective for our encouragement. In His perspective there is also peace and hope.
Our concern should be with our faithfulness to follow Him in humility. Faithfulness to our God-given call for this life is the measurement of health, our own and our ministries’. Results, impact, implications will come according to the Triune God of the Universe, and as long as He provides of Himself for us, we must do whatever He gives our right hand to do.
Do you know God’s assignment for you? How are you encouraged by the reality of God’s perspective of life? What resources has He provided for your faithful labor in His mission for you?
Remember His grace, Follow Him in humility, Cultivate constantly, All in cultural diversity.
